Hey, pumpkin!

Over the years I’ve spent hours scrolling through Pinterest pumpkin inspiration before Halloween. This year, I wanted to try something a bit different – painting our pumpkins. My husband and I are both artistic so this was the perfect way to get our creativity out in a really fun way.

We are a Disney house (not to mention loving Ellen Degeneres) so we ultimately decided to create characters from Finding Nemo!

Nemo and Dory Pumpkins

How to?

Materials:

  • Dollar store paint
  • Multiple size paintbrushes
  • Paint Pallet (you can use wax paper)
  • Craft felt or foam (used for the eyes)
  • Hot Glue Gun

To create our Nemo and Dory pumpkins, we first purchased a small pie pumpkin and a butternut squash (the perfect shape for Dory!). It takes a few coats to cover the surface completely, you can use a hairdryer to speed up the process.

Once you’re happy with your painting, build the fins and eyes out of craft felt or foam. Glue each of the pieces together with a glue gun and attach to your pumpkin! This is the perfect way to create a cool pumpkin without the mess of carving!

No way! I want to carve my pumpkin!

Here’s a few other pumpkin designs we’ve created over the years for those of you that definitely want to whole carving experience.
